Free Mason Bee Maintenance Program

All bees are very important for our food supply. 1 out of every 3 bites of food we consume is pollinated by bees. This is why we take Mason Bee survival very seriously.

The Mason Bees are in great danger, mainly from 2 predators: the Houdini fly, which is new over the last 12 years and spreading very rapidly, and mites that have been around forever.

With these two predators, we can help the Mason Bee by simply housing them and harvesting them properly.

There are other predators and factors that also harm the Mason Bees, which are not in our control.

The Mason Bee program is designed for those who are simply too busy to take care of them or want to just sit back and enjoy watching them while they’re pollinating your and your neighbors' gardens.

With this program, I will do all the work. Ask how to qualify.

We help you to make arrangements to have the Mason Bee nesting blocks delivered to your location, which would be sometimes towards the end of June.

We store the nesting blocks in a properly controlled temperature to get the best results from the new Mason Bee cocoons.

Towards the end of September, the beginning of October, we will open and harvest the cocoons out of the nesting blocks.

The nesting condos are then properly cleaned, with all predators that were in their nesting blocks then destroyed so we do not spread them and contaminate your neighborhood.

This shows the difference only a few years makes, the 2023 image shows the plank totally contaminated by Houdini Flies and mites

The cocoons are then washed three times, once with bleach water to remove all mites. After that, they are dried.

The cocoons are then put under a special light in a dark room to check them out to make sure they are healthy cocoons and were not attacked by any kind of predator. If so, they are destroyed.

The cocoons are then stored in temperature and humidity-controlled coolers.

In the spring, we give you back clean, healthy cocoons and properly cleaned nesting blocks for a new, successful Mason Bee experience.

It is a must that all Mason Bee cocoons and nesting condos are cleaned properly every fall.

I predict in 10 years if we do not help Mason Bees with this terrible predator, we may not have very many Mason Bees left in nature.
